West Brom boss Roy Hodgson is set to be unveiled as the new England manager, as talks between the coach and the FA are ongoing.

The Baggies man has emerged as a surprise candidate for the Three Lions role, which has been vacant since Fabio Capello’s resignation earlier in the year.

Despite Harry Redknapp being the favourite for the position, Hodgson is the preferred candidate, and The Daily Mail indicate that he is on the verge of being appointed in the role.

It is believed that Hodgson will see out the remainder of the season with West Brom, before selecting his squad for Euro 2012 and taking on the national selector role on a full-time basis.

Chris Hughton has been named as an early favourite to replace the outgoing man at the Hawthorns, after leading Birmingham City to the Championship playoffs.
